About Forvo
Forvo is a pronunciation dictionary: search a French word or name and hear it recorded by native speakers, often several of them, so you can compare accents and male and female voices, and request a word nobody has recorded yet. Its users have recorded more than 7 million pronunciations in more than 450 languages. The website is free; the iOS app costs $2.99. It is useful at every level; the range is our reading. It suits a learner who wants to check how one word or place name is actually said. It is not a course: it gives single words and short phrases, not connected speech, and recordings vary in quality.
