How to cancel Babbel

You cancel Babbel where you paid for it: in your account settings on babbel.com for web purchases, in your Apple ID subscriptions on an iPhone, or in Google Play subscriptions on Android. Deleting the app does not stop the payments.

Checked October 2026 · Babbel price: From €8.99/mo on the 12-month plan (€107.88 a year; €215.88 at the monthly rate); lifetime €299.99; first lesson free (checked 2026-10-09 (babbel.com/prices, shown from Germany))

If you paid on the website

Sign in at babbel.com, open your account settings and go to the subscription section. Turn off automatic renewal there. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Keep the confirmation email; if a charge still arrives, it is your proof.

If you paid on iPhone or iPad

Open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Babbel and tap Cancel Subscription. Apple renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period. For a charge you did not mean to make, request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

If you paid on Android

Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Choose Babbel and tap Cancel subscription.

Why so many people search for this

Cancelling was the most common complaint in the 500 most recent Babbel reviews we read on the App Store: 57 of 203 one- and two-star reviews were about price, subscriptions or cancelling, and 12 about reaching support. The usual cause is not knowing where the subscription was bought. If Babbel is not in your Apple or Google subscriptions, it was bought on the website.

Plans renew at the price of the plan you chose: €8.99 a month on the 12-month plan (€107.88 a year) when we checked from Germany. See Babbel cost for every plan.

What to do next

If you are leaving because Babbel felt too easy or did not get you understanding real French, another course app will not change that. Try real listening with an app such as Lingopie or LingQ, or a weekly tutor on italki. If you want a cheaper course instead, Busuu has a free tier; see Babbel vs Busuu.

Who it's for

Anyone paying for Babbel who has stopped using it, wants to switch to another app, or wants to avoid an annual renewal.

Who it's not for

People who only want a break. Pausing is not cancelling; if you will come back within a month or two, it can be simpler to keep the plan you have than to sign up again later at a different price.
