Is Lingopie worth it?

Lingopie is worth it if you are at about B1, will watch French TV most evenings and pay yearly, which on the offer we saw came to €77.94 a year (about €6.50 a month); it is not worth it for a beginner, or for anyone who will open it twice a month.

Checked October 2026 · Lingopie price: €12.99/mo; 3 months €38.97; annual €77.94 (standard €155.88); lifetime €219; 7-day free trial (checked 2026-10-09 (lingopie.com/pricing))

When it pays off

Lingopie's value is hours of real-speed French with help to follow it. If you watch three or four episodes a week and replay the lines you miss, that is more real listening than most learners do in a month on a course app. At about €6.50 a month on the annual offer, it costs less than one tutor lesson.

It pays off most for learners who can read French but cannot follow it spoken. That gap closes with hours of listening to real speech, and Lingopie makes those hours easy to get.

When it does not

If you are a beginner: you will understand too little, and the subtitles become reading practice rather than listening.

If you will not watch: a subscription you open twice a month is the most expensive way to learn anything.

If you want structure: Lingopie has no grammar and no path. Pair it with a course, or choose one.

Which plan

Monthly at €12.99 for a first month, if the 7-day trial is not enough to decide. Three months is €38.97, the same rate as monthly. The annual plan at €77.94 (standard €155.88) is the best value if you are sure. Lifetime at €219 pays off after about two years and ten months against the annual offer, or about a year and five months against the standard annual price. Compared with the alternatives

FluentU uses shorter clips with quizzes and costs more: Plus is $239.99 a year ($143.99 on the promotion we saw). LingQ works with podcasts and articles as well as video, and its Premium is $119.99 a year on the US App Store. Free options with real French include Easy French on YouTube and TV5MONDE. Who it's for

Learners at B1 or above, or a confident A2, who watch TV anyway and want to swap some of it for French, with a replay and review habit.

Who it's not for

Beginners, learners who do not watch TV, and anyone who wants a course. For them, Busuu or Babbel first, Lingopie later.
