Lingopie is not free beyond a 7-day trial of everything and a few free minutes a week after that; to keep watching French shows properly you need a plan, from €12.99 a month or €77.94 a year on the offer we saw on 9 October 2026.
Checked October 2026 · Lingopie price: €12.99/mo; 3 months €38.97; annual €77.94 (standard €155.88); lifetime €219; 7-day free trial (checked 2026-10-09 (lingopie.com/pricing))
The 7-day trial
The trial opens the whole app: every French show and film, dual subtitles, click-to-translate and saved words. You choose a plan when you start it, and it turns into that plan at the end of the seven days unless you cancel. Set a reminder for day five.
The free minutes
After the trial, the app gives you a few free minutes a week. That is enough to keep a habit warm or try a new show, not enough to learn from. Think of it as a sample, not a free tier.
Making the trial count
Pick one show at your level and watch three episodes, not ten trailers. Watch each scene once with French subtitles, replay the lines you missed, and save five words an episode. By day seven you will know whether you will use it.
If you understand almost nothing even with subtitles, Lingopie is too early for you; it works best from B1. Come back after a course such as Busuu, which has a free tier.
Cancelling before you are charged
If you started the trial on an iPhone, cancel in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, cancel in Google Play under Payments and subscriptions. If you started it on the website, cancel in your Lingopie account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel the trial, and you keep access until the seven days run out.
